Gerritsen Group Further Expands with Renault Trucks

Gerritsen Group from Goirle has experienced significant growth in recent years, more than doubling its fleet. The latest additions are a Renault Trucks T High X-Low 4×2 tractor unit and a Renault Trucks T X-Low 6×2 tractor unit — the first Renault Trucks vehicles in the company’s fleet. The rapid delivery times and positive experiences with dealer BAS Truck Center were decisive factors in choosing Renault Trucks for the first time.

Versatile Use Across Operations

The new Renault trucks will be used for a wide range of transport activities.
“As Gerritsen Group, we have two main areas of operation,” says Romano van Baar, COO of Gerritsen Group. “We specialise in industrial relocations, where we dismantle complete machinery and production lines and rebuild them elsewhere — turn-key. We are active in a variety of industries, from metalworking and automotive to food & beverage, pharmaceutical, plastics and wood processing. In addition, we operate a transport division used partly for our own projects and partly for external clients.”

The company has extensive experience with wide loads and machine transport. For external customers, Gerritsen Group also handles special transport assignments such as excavators, agricultural vehicles, production machinery, units and other (non-standard) goods. This expertise, combined with a solution-oriented mindset, has contributed to the company’s strong growth — the fleet has doubled over the past three years to 25 tractor units.

Fast Delivery and Strategic Fleet Expansion

To support this growth, Gerritsen Group has expanded its fleet with a Renault Trucks T High 480 4×2 X-Low tractor unit and a Renault Trucks T 6×2 X-Low tractor unit. “We urgently needed additional trucks, so delivery time was our most important criterion,” explains Van Baar. “BAS Truck Center, with whom we have worked for many years, informed us that the Renault trucks were available quickly. That’s why we chose Renault Trucks for the first time.”

The Renault Trucks T High will be used for international transport. Gerritsen Group’s projects span all of Europe — from southern Europe to Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Poland. For drivers who spend more time on the road than at home, a well-equipped and comfortable truck cab is essential. The Renault Trucks T High features a spacious cabin with a fully flat floor, allowing easy movement inside the cab.

Low Trailer Height and Practical Design

For transport within the Benelux, Gerritsen Group placed a Renault Trucks T 6×2 X-Low tractor unit into service, with a fifth wheel height of only 1 metre. This tractor unit was delivered as a 6×2 model from the factory and locally modified and lowered by BAS Truck Center. “For certain goods we transport, we need to ensure we don’t exceed the maximum allowed height,” says Van Baar. “We have about ten different types of trailers in our fleet, including those specifically suited for this type of transport. This tractor unit allows us to perform all regular transport tasks. To distribute weight well and easily manoeuvre in tight and hard-to-reach locations, this truck is fitted with a steerable and liftable front axle.”

Comfort and Safety Features

Both new Renault trucks are comprehensively equipped with features that drivers need for a comfortable journey, such as an inverter, microwave and media/navigation package. The steering column in the Renault Trucks T High is adjustable in three directions, so the driver can easily set the ideal position. In addition, the new Renault trucks come standard with LED lighting for optimal road visibility.

Collaboration with BAS Truck Center

When selecting the Renault trucks, Gerritsen Group relied on advice from BAS Truck Center.
“We have a mixed fleet and have worked with BAS Truck Center for years. The quality of the dealer’s service is just as important to me as the truck itself. If we bring a truck in for maintenance, we need to trust that it will be ready at the agreed time. If not, I have two problems: a disappointed driver and an unhappy customer. At BAS Truck Center, they understand this well and have the flexibility to act quickly in case of emergencies.”
