The challenge
Following major shifts in the global electronics market after the early 2000s, a large part of printed circuit board (PCB) production in Europe became economically unsustainable. Manufacturing gradually moved towards lower-cost regions, with the Asia-Pacific region now accounting for approximately 90% of global PCB production.
As a result, multiple PCB manufacturing sites across Germany were closed. The challenge was not only to dismantle advanced production equipment, but to do so in a way that preserved value and enabled worldwide redistribution. Many of these machines were highly specialised, technologically advanced and delicate, requiring expert handling throughout dismantling, packaging and transport.
